Another Job Posting for Beer-Loving Hikers: Visit National Parks for $50k

Looks like Michelob Ultra has decided to outmatch a job posting we saw a while back.

In June, the artisanal Devils Backbone Brewing Company offered what sounded like a sweet deal. The brand's new CHO—or "Chief Hiking Officer"—would get to hike the Appalachian Trail, drink a lot of beer, and try to get attention online. For those efforts, the CHO would be paid $20,000 and all expenses.

Now Michelob has put up a suspiciously similar (albeit more lucrative) job posting of its own. The company is playing around with the title—this time it's "Chief Exploration Officer" (CEO). And at $50,000, the pay is more than double the Devils Backbone offer.

What's more, Michelob's CEO will be provided with a camper van complete with its own bathroom.

Job duties include "capturing content while touring the country, visiting national parks and repping Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold along the way," according to the company.

The gig lasts 6 months, during which "the CEO will travel through some of the country’s most iconic landscapes, exploring the natural beauty of America and stopping to capture photos of some breathtaking national parks."

The main qualifications are "a deep appreciation for nature, the willingness to hike to the perfect photo opp, and the ability to capture engaging content for social media. Oh, and a love of beer, of course. You also must be 21+ years old and have a valid US driver’s license."

Among the stops on the itinerary are several national parks: Arizona's Saguaro (pictured), Big Bend in Texas, and, in California, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, and Sequoia. More places might be added.

To read all of the job requirements and to apply, click here. All applications must be in by September 30.

Our advice to those interested: Apply—and then reach out to Coors, Samuel Adams, or Pabst Blue Ribbon. Who knows? Maybe one of them will match the offer and increase the salary.

Let the beer-drinking hiker PR wars begin!
