In a savvy move—one likely intended to lure back those theatergoers buying discounted tickets online—the Theater Development Fund has changed the way the line is being handled at the TKTS booths in New York City. In short: if you buy a ticket within seven days of buying your next ticket, you get to jump to the front of the line. All you have to do is show the ticket from the last show, which will be marked with the TKTS stamp.
It's a sweet deal for the tourists who are likely to buy more than one show in the course of the week. And frankly, the offerings at the TKTS booth recently have been extraordinary. WIth the exception of a few perpetual best sellers (like Wicked, The Book of Mormon, The Lion King and Beautiful), pretty much every other show on Broadway (and Off-Broadway) is being discounted. With the Tony Awards just around the corner, there's not a better time to go see a new show, because you can bet those nominees are performing their hearts out for the "voters" in the audience.
