Puerto Rico Just Made It Easier for Vaxxed Travelers to Visit

Visiting Puerto Rico gets much easier for fully vaccinated domestic travelers this week.

Starting Wednesday, February 2, those travelers no longer have to provide negative Covid-19 test results to enter the island.

Previously, all passengers arriving on domestic flights were required to show negative test results obtained no more than 48 hours before arrival.

As of Wednesday, only unvaccinated travelers will need to provide test results. However, those unvaccinated visitors will no longer be required to quarantine for seven days after reaching the island.

International travelers will still be subject to the CDC's requirement that all passengers entering the U.S. by air must provide Covid-19 test results obtained no more than one day before travel. Additionally, travelers who are not U.S. citizens must be fully vaccinated to enter the U.S.

Because Puerto Rico is part of the United States, Americans do not need to present test results to fly back to the mainland.

Also on February 2, the government of Puerto Rico raises the crowd limit at restaurants, theaters, casinos, and other indoor establishments from 50% to 75% of full capacity, and businesses such as bars and nightclubs will no longer have to close at midnight. The ban on alcohol sales between midnight and 5am is getting lifted as well.

According to news reports, Puerto Rico's government is relaxing restrictions in response to falling Covid infections and a high local vaccination rate.
