When chef Tom Hugenberger took over this neighborhood spot, reputed to have Santa Monica’s best craft beers, it was all about the stellar selection of international draft beers and about two dozen bottled brews. The food was just average. In 2013, he unveiled new salads, a killer burger, light fare, and entrees—nothing terribly fancy, just hyper fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. Food is now in the same league with the beer, and the tranquil patio still feels like anywhere but Los Angeles.
