The hotel where Oscar Wilde famously lived above his means, and died in 1900 (on the ground floor) is now a gorgeous boutique hotel dressed up like a Belle Epoque boudoir. Each guest room is different, and all are set around a remarkable, six-story spiral staircase. Some rooms have fireplaces; some have fabric-covered walls; all come with lush period antiques, including one with a pair of gigantic, 19th-century Chinese vases. The Oscar Wilde room features a peacock-themed mural. The bijou cocktail bar (named after—you guessed it—Wilde) has live jazz every Thursday, while downstairs in the cellar, you’ll find a hammam pool, a steam room, and a massage room.
