This shoebox-size wine-bar-cum-crepe stand is an outcropping of the venerable Le Comptoir next door. Hungry diners descend on the bar-and-tapas component while waiting for a table at the restaurant; those in search of quick and portable bites can order takeout crepes and salads (by ordering from the takeout menu, you give up your right to stand and eat at the counter). The decidedly hip atmosphere trumps the low-key “this is just a typical southwestern bar” decor. Goodies include fried croquettes stuffed with Iberian ham, brandade (mashed potatoes with cod), oxtail canapés with horseradish cream, and chicken hearts grilled with garlic and parsley. If there’s no room, or you’re in the mood for seafood, try its sister joint next-door, L’Avant Comptoir de la Mer.
