This is the kind of shop I’m always looking for when I travel to another city. Everything in the shop, from the music playing to the coffee you’re drinking (it’s a cafe and a boutique) to the jewelry you’re eyeing, is made by a DC artisan and is for sale. The shop/cafe is a joint venture between a local entrepreneur and a D.C. government program. I shopped here for a D.C.–themed goodie gift for a faraway friend and walked out with the Capital Candy Jar’s chocolate-covered pretzel rods, a Neighborgoods’ dish towel hand-screen-printed with a cupcake recipe, a bag of Oh-Mazing’s snackable granola, and a box of the Fancy Schmancy Co.’s curious crackers. The shop sells hundreds of items and is happy to box and mail gifts for you.
