The only structure in the U.S. built just for jazz, this $64-million building, which debuted in 2013, is a must-visit for music fans. The lineup consists mostly of jazz, though everything from gospel brunches to Ethiopian blues bands has been on the bill. The main hall’s circular stadium seating ensures that there are no bad seats in the house. Be sure to head upstairs and check out the ceramic tile murals created for the center by Southern California artist couple Sandow Birk and Elyse Pignolet. If you want to eat first, you can grab a bite at the center’s cafe. Last minute tickets are often available.
