About Frommer'sFrequently Asked Questions
How can I submit my establishment for inclusion in your books and on your Web site? If my establishment is already listed, how can I update the information? Although we appreciate your interest, inclusion in Frommer's guidebooks is based on the author's experiences--our listings and reviews are not paid advertisements. However, if you would like to submit information about your establishment, we can forward it to the author's attention. Address your comments to: Frommer's Travel Guides An even faster way to get our attention is via e-mail. Simply go to this "Contact Us" form to get started. Please include "Request for Review" in the subject line and all pertinent information--establishment name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, Web site, the name of a contact person and anything else important--in the comment box. If you're writing to tell us about changes in our coverage of your establishment, please include "Update for [establishment name]" in the subject line and all pertinent information in the comment box as mentioned above. Listings in our Destinations section on Frommers.com are excerpts from some of our printed guidebooks. Before an establishment appears online, it must first be published in one of our travel guides.
How do I apply for a job with Frommer's? We appreciate your interest in joining Frommer's Travel Guides. Frommer's offers exciting career opportunities in a variety of disciplines. Visit wiley.com, the site of our parent company, John Wiley & Sons, Inc., to browse through all current job openings at Frommer's and throughout the Wiley organization. If you would like to write for Frommer's, submit your resume, clippings and cover letter to: Attn: Resumes Please note that most of our books have been contracted out for the next year or so, but we will keep your resume on file and if we have an opening that might suit your qualifications, we will contact you. Keep in mind that we try to find writers who live in places they write about (we rarely send writers far from home) or who have a deep, long-term familiarity with a city or region. When you propose writing about a destination, please let us know why you consider yourself an expert. If you are a photographer, submit your cover letter to: Frommer's Travel Guides We are interested in working with published travel photographers. Please include any URLs where your images can be reviewed, tear sheets and stock lists of locations that you've shot in depth. We tend to select images that capture a slice of life that reflects a particular place. For a better idea of the types of images we prefer, simply take a look at any Frommer's Travel Guide.
Can you help me with my trip planning? Unfortunately, we do not have the staff on hand to address individual trip planning needs. Your best bet would be to search our site for in-depth information and current deals for the destination in which you are interested. You'll find the search box in the upper righthand corner of each and every page on Frommers.com.
How often are your books updated? Frommer's guides with the year in the title (i.e., Frommer's Italy 2005) are published every year. Frommer's guides with an edition number (i.e., Frommer's Virgin Islands, 6th edition) are published every two years. In between publication dates, many of our authors submit online updates to keep readers abreast of changes in the destinations they cover. These updates are available at Frommers.com.
What should I do if an Internet address listed in your guide is outdated? Web site and e-mail addresses often change more quickly than we can publish them, and we apologize for the inconvenience. If an URL or an e-mail address is no longer working, try a search engine like Google (www.google.com); otherwise, you'll have to make contact the old-fashioned way--by telephone, fax or post.
I'm dissatisfied with my guide. Can I get a refund? Book refunds or exchanges are dependent on the policy of the retail or online store from which the book was purchased. Frommer's does not provide refunds or exchanges for books that were purchased from a retail vendor.
I have a dispute with a hotel/restaurant/attraction that was reviewed in your guide. Can you help me? The reviews provided in Frommer's guides are meant to provide helpful information for travelers; we do not operate in partnership with the merchants we review. Given how "perishable" travel information is, with constant openings and closings, the authors, editors and publisher cannot be held responsible for the experience of readers while traveling. We do, however, appreciate hearing from readers who have had a disappointing experience with a hotel, restaurant or attraction, and we promise you that we check out all complaints and take them with the utmost seriousness when preparing the next edition of the relevant guide.
Are the prices listed in your book guaranteed? Although prices are correct at press time, travel information is subject to change at any time, and this is especially true of prices. We therefore suggest that you write or call ahead for confirmation when making your travel plans. If your question about Frommer's travel guidebooks was not answered here, please contact our editorial staff. |
