This is the kind of unadvertised deal that gets our juices flowing at Airfarewatchdog.com and Frommers.com -- the sale people have been waiting for to get them across the pond for less than $700.
Delta (tel. 800/221-1212; www.delta.com) has reduced fares from various U.S. cities for peak summer travel (actually, any time of the year on some routes) to Manchester, England. We found these fares using Travelocity. They may also be available on other booking engines, but to save time click on the city links below and you should go directly to the fare information on Travelocity (unless, of course, the fare has changed by the time you read this).
Round-trip fares to Manchester before taxes include:
- From Philadelphia: $389. (Of course, the taxes and fees are sky high, bringing the final total to $652. Even so, for July and August travel? It's still a pretty good deal.)
- From Washington, D.C.: $404
- From Cincinnati: $449
- From Miami: $444 (just $573 with taxes)
Boston and non-stop New York City to Manchester were just $475 with taxes; other cities are available, although it's a bit hit and miss. Travel outbound between May 13 and July 31; return by August 31, 2006. You can stay for as long as 30 days; a minimum stay must include a Saturday night.
