Hit the Jackpot in Vegas: Air and Two Nights From $354

Every time of year is Vegas time of the year. A hot desert summer doesn't stop the powerful air conditioners from blowing cold air through the casinos.

Every time of year is Vegas time of the year. A hot desert summer doesn't stop the powerful air conditioners from blowing cold air through the casinos. Celine Dion and Barry Manilow don't hide from the heat. In fact, deals to Las Vegas in the summertime are just as strong as any other time of year as casino resorts and event planners try to draw family, big group and couple travel straight through August.

The Luxor (tel. 888/777-0188; www.luxor.com) has a special summer rate of $69 per night good through August. Applicable on July 4-6, 9-13, and 18-20 and August 6-10, 13, 20-21, 30-31. There are special increases to $79 per night on July 17, August 22-24 and 27 to 29. Billed as the second largest hotel in the world, the Luxor's Egyptian theme makes for high entertainment and great shopping as you maneuver your way around an ancient landscape where Cleopatra was queen. This two for one special also includes a $30 dining credit at one of two Luxor restaurants, a $20 spa credit, a two for one spa admission, $10 of free slots and two-for the price of one admission to an IMAX movie.

Circus Circus (tel. 877/434-9175; www.circuscircus.com) has been entertaining kids since it opened its doors. The family-oriented casino resort on the Las Vegas strip has an RV park for parking, a five-acre elevated theme park, a huge shopping mall, a gigantic food court with every morsel of food a kid could love, and a large sports booking area to watch games. The theme park costs $22.95 per day and that includes all the rides you want on the Sponge Bob Square Pants 4-D ride. In conjunction with U.S. Air, the Circus Circus website even has a vacation search engine that combines airfare with accommodations. Over July 4th weekend, we found a two night trip from Phoenix with accommodations and airfare coming in at approximately $225. Taking advantage of the pinch on high gas prices, Circus Circus is offering a $39.95 deal on a hotel room for select dates through September 7, 2006 that comes with a free $25 gas card good at Arco stations in seven states including Utah, Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington and Nevada.

To get to Vegas, Southwest Airlines (tel. 800/243-8372; www.swavacations.com) has fall deals to Sin City that need to be booked by July 6, 2006. Participating hotels offer additional incentives such as dining credits from $25 to $50, spa passes, beverage discounts, shopping discounts, coins for slots, and a ride up the Eiffel Tower. These deals are good from most places where Southwest flies. Specific deals include two nights from Austin with accommodations at the New York New York for $274, from Chicago with accommodations at the Flamingo Las Vegas for $289, $84 out of Los Angeles with lodging at the same Flamingo, $304 out of Omaha for round-trip airfare and two nights at the MGM Grand, and $184 from San Diego with accommodations at the Aladdin. Travel is good for these deals from September 4 to October 27, 2006. Air security fees and departure taxes are additional.

With departure dates on Mondays, United Vacations (tel. 888/854-3899; www.unitedvacations.com) has two night air/land deals from Denver to Las Vegas for $354. Accommodations are at the Excalibur with travel good from now until July 31, 2006. A similar deal from Detroit is available for $394 for two nights with airfare and lodging at the Imperial Palace. Travel for this special is good through September 4, 2006. At the United Vacations website, all you have to do is select a departure city to see the list of deals affiliated with that city. Some surprises can come up -- like a five night air/land package to Hawaii from Phoenix starting at around $1,000 for fall departures. You never know what you'll find when looking for Vegas specials online. You never know what you'll find in Vegas, either.
