Air Tahiti Nui (tel. 877/824-4846; www.airtahitinui-usa.com) is offering a two-for-one deal to celebrate its 10th anniversary, perfect for cruise passengers on sailings out of Papeete, Tahiti. With proof of a past French Polynesia visit, passengers receive one free companion ticket when they buy one round-trip economy ticket. The offer is valid on bookings made by June 30, 2008 for flights from Los Angeles (from $1,348) and New York (from $1,668) to Tahiti between August 18 and Sept. 24, 2008, when Air Tahiti Nui offers daily nonstop service from Los Angeles International Airport and thrice weekly nonstop service from New York's JFK airport to Papeete

Proof of travel can be either a copy of your passport page with the Tahiti entry stamp or a photo of yourself at a recognizable landmark in French Polynesia, like an overwater bungalow. The anniversary special is open to anyone who has been to Tahiti before, regardless of carrier used for their previous travel or length of time since their last visit. There is a 10-day maximum stay; the companion is only responsible for government taxes and fuel surcharges of approximately $317. Both passengers (paid and free) must travel together on the whole journey.
