Fish n' Chips on the Cheap: Short but Sweet Air Sale to London

There's only a small window for this big opportunity. You have through midnight Thursday, February 13, 2003, to take advantage of British Airways discounted fare of $198 (before taxes) to London flying out of any--yes, any--of the 21 airports used by the carrier in the U.S. Expect taxes and security fees to be around $100, unfortunately fairly standard for international flights these days.

While you have only short notice to jump on these fares, you can fly February 18-March 31. Early bookers are rewarded as well, because you can also pick dates between November 1-December 15, 2003 for the $198 base fare (for those who can plan that far ahead). If you can fly in April, May or October, tickets start from start from $298; June and September from $398; and for the high season in July and August from $498.

You should plan on departing Mondays through Wednesdays and returning Tuesdays through Thursdays to get the lowest fares. Weekend routes will cost you an extra $50. All reservations require a minimum of a Saturday night stay and a seven-day advanced purchase.

Additionally, you can use Heathrow as your turnstile to head on in to the continent to Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Genoa and Zurich by adding $99 to your fare. Other cities are available and will cost more.
