One for the Coupon Clippers: Alaska TourSaver Book Offers Dozens of 2-for1s
Going to Alaska this summer? Planning to maybe stay on a few extra days before or after your cruise? Then you could use some coupons.

Check out the Great Alaskan TourSaver book, which offers more than 130 travel deals in the 49th state, each and every one of them a buy-one-get-one-free moneysaver. I haven't added everything up myself, but the publisher claims the total dollar value of the offers at $26,000 -- so it should, in theory, be fairly easy for a couple to offset the book's $99.95 price tag.

The deals run the gamut, from hotels and transportation to whale-watching cruises, day trips, and short tours -- many of the latter of which are offered by the cruise lines at regular (i.e., not two-for-one) rates. By booking a few of your shore excursions independently and using these coupons, you could save a bundle.

Offers that are particularly noteworthy and/or familiar for cruise passengers include:

  • Temsco Helicopter Tours of Mendenhall Glacier, outside Juneau
  • Admission to Anchorage's Alaska Native Heritage Center
  • Rail travel between Anchorage, Talkeetna, and Fairbanks
  • Admission to Seward's Alaska Sealife Center
  • Float trips on the Kenai River
  • The Bear Creek Zipline Adventure in Ketchikan
  • Whale watching and day tours in Glacier Bay National Park
  • Portage Glacier Cruises, outside Anchorage
  • Rides on the Mt. Roberts Tramway in Juneau
  • Stays at Princess's Copper River, Kenai, and Denali wilderness lodges
  • Passage on the riverboat Discovery
  • Sled Dog Summer Camp in Sheep Creek Valley, Juneau
  • Misty Fjords Flightseeing with Taquan Air
  • Halibut fishing in Homer and Seward with Ninilchik Charters
  • Air travel from Fairbanks to Barrow with Era Aviation

All in all, a pretty impressive package. My coupon-clipping grandmother would have loved it.
