Does anyone know of bus companies running direct services between Singapore and Malacca?? If so, do they have online reservation services?? I'm planning on travelling between Singapore and Malacca during the Christmas holiday period, therefore I don't really feel comfortable booking the tickets only when I arrive at Singapore (i.e. a few days beforehand).

Book thru a travel agency in Singapore. Transtar Travel has online booking for express bus service between S'pore and Melaka. They charge a small fee. Bus travel between S'pore and Malaysia is tight during the holidays (especially Lunar New Year), so it's best to book ahead.

Alternatively, have your hotel book for you.

Good luck!!

HI there, I was in Singapore a few years ago, and it was very easy to catch a local bus there. In Malacca, I stayed in a very nice hotel (a Marriott, I believe) that was truly amazing -- and extremely inexpensive (at the time, less than $75 US per night). I don't think you will have a problem with inexpensive hotels there.
