Where are you planning to go? Thailand, while a small country, isn't THAT small.

You can find a wide range of night life options ranging from the places that cater to the sex trade all the way to classy, dress-up nightclubs and restaurants. There is no need to go into details beyond that.

Bangkok has nightlife.  Phuket has nightlife.  Pattaya/Jomtien has nightlife.   So does Hua Hin and Chiang Mai to a lesser extent too!  If you want younger adolescent type beach activities like "full moon parties" where dope is used and kids get wasted - visit Koh Phangan.

No beach in Bangkok but you should stay there a couple days at least.  Maybe choose a hotel near the Skytrain route so you can use that rail service to get around the city.   There are hotels in all price ranges in the Sukhumvit Road area.  You can walk to restaurants, nightlife, malls, street vendors, etc.   If you arrive during the day hours you can even use rail service to the city too.      No rail service after midnight until 6 a.m.  Meter taxis available from the airport 24 hours a day.

If you are really young maybe stay in the Khao San Road area where many other young travelers choose to stay will be best for you.  But no Skytrain, no subway and no Airport Rail Link in those areas.

Phuket has nightlife but Phuket is the most expensive city in Thailand to visit.  Beaches in this Phuket area are okay.  You may have to fly to Phuket to save time otherwise there are buses available if you want to spend all day getting there.  There is even a train you can take part way and then switch to a bus.

Pattaya - Jomtien beach areas (2 hours from Bangkok) have the cheapest hotels, cheapest nightlife, cheapest transportation but the beach area is not good for tourists to swim in.  They do shop in the malls in the beach area, visit restaurants, go to bars, jog, sunbathe but rarely do tourists swim at Pattaya Beach.  They do swim at Koh Larn Island and some swim at Jomtien and off of Naklua only a short distance away.   For Pattaya many tourists just use the pools for swimming and the beach area for other things.  Bus from Bangkok to Pattaya is around 115 baht for the 2 hour bus ride from Ekamai bus terminal.  Ekamai bus terminal is off of a Skytrain stop.

But what kind of nightlife are you interested in?  Fancy and expensive nightclubs or go-go bars and beer bars?   Any simple Google check will give you hundreds of links on Thailand nightlife.  Also Pattaya, Phuket and Bankok nightlife in particular.

Spend the last night or two in Bangkok again.   This way you will only be a cheap taxi ride to the airport if you have a middle of the night or early morning departure.

Bangkok has a reputation for wild and rowdy nightlife. In fact, 'sanook' or 'fun' would be a better description. The city's nightlife is relaxed, safe and very enjoyable. You don't need to dress up, and you won't break the bank. The city's nightlife goes way beyond the over-worn naughty image from the Vietnam days. And it really does go on around the clock.

If you want nightlife you absolutely 100% must choose Pattaya - nothing, and I mean NOTHING, else compares. Bangkok's nightlife is good, but it is more expensive than Pattaya, and it all shuts down at 2am!!!

Pattaya is Thailand's undisputed nightlife capital - forget Phuket, even Patong beach is a pale imitation!
