All the reviews I read are so conflicting no matter what site I read them at. I am going to book a trip in December. I am looking for nice beach not crowded, snorkeling as a begginer, kayaking and shopping. I hear Caracau is dirty and over crowded and Scrub Island has a ghost staff and neglect the guests, and Turks had roaches? Here are my top pics BVI, St Lucia, Turks, Caracau, Great Exuma. If anyone has an opinion for me I would love to hear it as I am very confused. The travel agents do not help much they just want to sell you a ticket somewhere.
you cannot miss the beauty of the water in the Bahamas- most beautiful IMHO. If you mean Curacao the homes and design are Dutch and very colorful with private beaches. The beauty of the islands is in the eye of the beholder as each is unique in it's own way. St Lucia is POOR, with the hotels on compounds, altho it is a pretty island, humid and moist. Probably all the islands are dirty, except maybe the most expensive, like Grand Cayman, USVI, but then you could just go to Florida if you want that clean of an environment. Save some money. I have pics on my website of most islands, as I have been to almost all of them.

Thank you for all the posts. I have decided to rule out St. Lucia too much jungle lol. My first choice had been St John but it almost felt like it was to close to the US and I wasnt sure if I would feel like I was on an island away from the US, if that makes any sense :)
The website that P. Weber gave me was helpful and yet I have to make reservations soon and feel like a kid in front of a candy store and cant make up my mind? I revisited the resorts in St John. They apear beautiful but don't give me that wow factor of being on and island I suppose like Antigua, Turks, BVi or Grand Bahamas? Although I heard Trunk Bay is the spot to see. I think it will be hard to please two travelers I enjoy shopping, dining, culture, beaches and my boy friend enjoys more quiet places and loves boating and snorkeling.
We thought Scrub Island would be good but I dont care for the reviews and not sure what to make of Peter Island? If we go to Curacao I think he will be disappointed with the crowds. O I think I should just throw darts and see where they land lol.
I wish I had more information from those who traveled the BVI's or Antigua, Curacao. The Grand Bahamas speak for themselves I suppose. My decision needs to be made this week so wish me luck :) I appreciate everyone's input and I hope its not to easy to flip over a kayak its my first time doing that one.
Oh Not to mention however, I am afraid of snakes big time be it water or land.
I find using the term "poor" over and over to be offensive! And most of the islands are not dirty, it's called an island for a reason.
Anyway, if all you want to do is lie on a beach all day and do nothing but snorkel and swim then St. John is fine, if you're looking for a tad bit more excitement then you should try the British Virgin Islands or Antigua.
Although St. John is U.S. owned trust me, you will feel like you're on an island. It's completely reclusive and very green. There's nothing really going on there. I can't comment on Turks or Bahamas because I haven't been there. So it depends on what all you're looking for.
