Ground Travel in Jamaica
We are going to be in Falmouth in early February on a cruise. We do not like ship-sponsored shore excursions.  We would like to rent a car and driver for 4-5 hours to see some of the real Jamaice

We use Clive's transport for all our transportation and tour needs in Jamaica. All of the drivers are great. www.clivestransportservicejamaica.com

No reason not to oher than your driving ability.
The roads are narrow and you must drive on the left hand side.
I would stick to the roads most traveled, we had trouble on a small road with an attempted shake down on the ruse of selling sugar cane.
We ought not to have stopped.

Fun- climb Dunn's River Falls outside Ocho Rios.
Homage- visit Bob Marley's home/masouleum in Nine Mile.
Probably not enough time, but wonderful- town of Mandeville, up in the mountains.

Be VERY careful in Jamaica. Some fellow cruisers a couple of years ago who took a private "tour" ended up being taken to a warehouse where the driver and "tour guide" threatened them with a knife and took their money.

Jamaica is NOT a safe place for private touring. I will not be going back there ever.
