My wife and I are thinking of spending a week on St. Lucia.  We were looking into staying at Vacation Club villa at Marigot Bay.

Would this be a good spot to travel out of to see the island and spend time on the beach? Our plans were to rent a taxi.  I know we use a water taxi to get to the villa.  How far from the airport?  Are there places to eat across the bay from us? Is there any windsurfing and kayaking?

Hi Fettda,

Marigot Bay is a very quaint place to be especially if you are not looking for crowds.  You can travel from anywhere to see the Island.  The beach in Marigot is very small and there's a rope off area for swimming.  Your hotel should be able to provided you with beach chairs.  You can rent kayaks, windsurf boards etc., and other watersport equipment from Aquarius Water World.  These are my recommendations:

Jonas Taxi Service: He's based out of Marigot Bay.  He'll take you right to the dock to catch the ferry to Vacation club

Another Good choice for taxis: Christopher Taxi

Aquarius Water World

Recs for places to eat:
Rainforest Hideaway (Romantic/Dinner/Jazz)
Boudreau's (Romantic)
Doolittle's (Casual/Happy Hour/Pool/Music)
Chateau Mygo (Casual/Lunch)

Julietta's

Bernice's Food Stand (Lunch/Local/Cheap)

This should get you started and in the right direction.

Absolutely. Vacation Club is a wonderful, quiet little community of villas overlooking the bay. It's quite a characteristic bay and is great in that it's located midway up the west coast of St. Lucia, making it the hub for exploring the rest of the island. There's everything you need in the bay, too - if you wanted to stay there. You might not even need a car. Oasis Marigot (who has the Vacation Club) will help you arrange taxi transfers from airport, too. It's almost an hour and half from the main international airport. Enjoy!

went to marigot bay as a tour when we stayed in st Lucia(castreis) for a week.  really a lovely place.  A lot of celebs have houses there, mick jaggar, george forman, and orpah is building.   It is fun for a day trip, however i would really doubt there is enough to do there for a whole week.   I think i would be bored to tears if i was there for a whole week.  If you are just looking to relax in the sand and sun, then save a boat load of money and go to Florida!

Marigot Bay is lovely. But an alternative with a lovely beach, more restaurants, shopping, and nightlife nearby is Rodney Bay. We stayed there a few years ago and we had a real blast. The beach is fantastic and the restaurant choices were top notch and not overly priced.
