We will be spending 2 weeks at Grace Bay in February and were curious about the local custom. Are men expected to wear long pants and are ladies expected to wear dresses for supper in the finer restaurants (as is the custom in some Caribbean locations)? We obviously would not expect to show up in bathing suits for supper but are unsure how casual it is.

Most all of the nicer restaurants are "resort casual." Collared shirts and nice shorts are fine for men. Dresses are sometimes seen, but not necessary for ladies. My wife has never packed a dress to the T&C, in the last 13 years. Long pants and dresses are perfectly fine, just not required or expected.

The one restaurant exception is Anacaona at Grace Bay Club. They do require that men wear long pants, and closed-toe shoes.

Obviously, the more casual restaurants are shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops. :-)

It can become cool at night (for some), so a light sweater might be welcomed.

Hope this helps.

In the nicer restaurants the men wear long pants and a nice shirt.  Casual dresses are good for the ladies, but also pants or capri sets.  I've been wearing cute pants or capri sets there for years and never felt underdressed.  Just no shorts or flip-flops---save that for the casual bar-type places.

For men, it often depends on the time of year you're visiting. We normally visit during June, so long pants are rarely seen, even in the nicest restaurants. However, in January or February evenings might be cooler, so long pants become a matter of comfort. I've packed a pair of long pants during a January visit, but never wore them. However, they were there, just in case a cool front came through. Keep in mind that most all restaurants are outdoor.
