Our first trip will be in May and from what I've read, the IGA is the only supermarket.  Is that true?  I can only compare it to Anguilla which has several supermarkets, but yet I think is more remote than T&C.
Is it just that IGA is the only one in Provo?
I've read how expensive it is, so we plan on packing some food and paying the extra charge for an extra piece of luggage.
How expensive is the wine in IGA?  We're wine drinkers and I hope it doesn't break the bank!

There are a few other, smaller grocery stores, but food prices are just as expensive. The T & C are pretty well isolated as an island chain, so everything must be flown in.

IGA has two locations, one on Leeward Hwy., and the other (Graceway Gourmet) across from Seven Stars resort.

Yes, it's always smart to pack non-parishable kitchen staples and snacks, so you don't have to buy them there.

Sorry, I'm not a wine drinker, so I've never price compared.

Hi CaribDesi! Fancy meeting you here!

Shopgal, I'm a wine drinker, so I can answer your question. First, you'll most often get better pricing at the Wine Cellar which is located on Leeward Highway close to the IGA. You can pick up a decent bottle of either red or white for $15-$18.00. Depending how much you need, you'll get a 10% discount by the case. This applies also at the IGA.

Enjoy Provo!

Thanks, Maca!  Staying 10 days, we might just opt for a case!  Good to know!  I'm sooo looking forward to going to T&C.   Wanted to go many years ago, but chose Anguilla....been going there ever since.  This year finally decided it's time to go!!!

Hi, Maca81. Fancy running in to you too (Maca81 and I also frequent another Turks and Caicos forum).

shopgal, here are sites for both of the major grocery stores, as well as a video tour of Graceway Gourmet and some other shops in the area. As you can see, the grocery stores are large, modern, and well stocked. Hope this helps.

Yes, the supermarket will be much more expensive, but not on all items.  When you consider that the checked bag will cost you at least $25, you have to decide if that really makes sense.  Unless you are really a big snacker, you wouldn't be spending that much extra.
