Hi eveyrone.

I will be going to Turks and Caicos very soon and I will be staying at The Royal West Indies Resort. This is my first time in TandC and would appreciate and travelling tips as well as tips for the resort I will be staying at.
It will be a 4 day getaway. How much money (USD) should I bring for me and my girlfriend? Which places is best to eat without me needing a co-signer to eat (I know its expensive out there). And which excursions would you recommend?

Thank you in advance!

There are a few nice spots near Royal West Indies Resort to get a good meal and not break the bank. Flamingo Cafe just between Club Med and Ocean Club has great local food and an entree is like $12-$14. Pelican Bay that's at Royal West Indies Resort is pretty good too. Go to http://wherewhenhow.com/turks-caicos-islands/magazine/providenciales-dining-guide/ and there's a complete dining guide for Providenciales with prices included.

maxv23, we stayed at Royal West Indies several years ago, along with numerous other TCI resorts over the years. RWI is a very nice, moderately priced resort, located on a nice stretch of Grace Bay -- it's a good choice. However, there are few "bad" choices along Grace Bay.Cool

One thing we've learned about vacationing anywhere -- we can spend as much or as little as we like, while dining out. The Turks and Caicos is no exception.

For example, our family of four spent $80 for a nice dinner at Ricky's Flamingo Cafe this past summer, and more than twice that at Coco Bistro the next night. Both were excellent dining experiences, one casual, one much more up-scale. If you eat every meal at expensive fine-dining and resort restaurants, you'll spend a small fortune. However, if you mix it up a bit with some of the local eateries, you'll not only save $$, but you'll also experience the local food and culture.

RWI is one of several more moderately priced resorts along Grace Bay. You might also want to take a look at Ocean Club Resorts (east and west), The Sands, The Alexandra. Villa del Mar, and others.

Helpful websites:

www.wherewhenhow.com (general information)
www.turksandcaicosreservations.tc (resort comparisons, information, rates, specials, and reservations).

Hope this helps.
