White-Sand Beaches in Costa Rica?
With all the options for beautiful beaches in Costa Rica, I'm having a serious case of info overload. Can anyone give me some direction? I'm looking to stay in the Guanacaste region. Please help.

You won´t exactly find white sand beaches in CR, you can find some gold to grey sand beaches. In the Caribbean you can find the closest to white sand, like Cocles or Manzanillo, also in Nicoya Peninsula.
Beaches all over Costa Rica are beautiful, not exactly as the regular Caribbean Island style but with some other beauty, surrounded by rainforests and natural species.
My favorites in Guanacaste area are Flamingo beach, Conchal and Nosara.
Hope this helps!

We just returned yesterday and Rebecca.Traveller is "spot on!" It is not a Caribbean beach scene in the Guanacaste area, but is very nice. We enjoyed Conchal and Hermosa Beaches. CR is a beautiful place! Cool

Playa Conchal & Playa Azucar are beautiful beaches. Some of the best in the area of Guanacaste.

they don't have white sand beaches, it is a volcanic place, but they do have some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.

Playa Hermosa is in the Guanacaste area & I stayed at Hotel El Velero years ago. It's a intimate boutique hotel with delicious food & great staff & right on the beach. Sand is tan not white, there are no white sand beaches in C.R. You will find black sand beaches in the volcanic beaches like El Ocotal & they are not place to stay. You end up with a black residue on your skin that is hard to scrub off. You just need to get in touch with tourism bureau of C.R. & get a free map of area to help you make your decision.

Playa Conchal was a really amazing beach. We almost stayed in Playa Ocotal/Playa Hermosa...and after seeing the contrast between the two beaches, couldn't have been happier with our decision to stay on Conchal, as it was as white of sand as we say anywhere on Guanacaste.

I recommend the Playa Carrillo or Samara.  Samara if you like being in a town on the beach.  Playa Carrillo just south of Samara is great.  The Hotel Leyenda has a great restaurant and shuttles you back and forth to the beach.  Enjoy!
