Being taken to Paris by my daughter for 50th birthday. Any special & different ideas? Would loved suggestions, something different from the travel books.

What a very broad question.  Perhaps you could fill us in on what interests you.  Museums, architecture, theatre,  concerts, shopping, day trips, special restaurants, cooking lessons?  What time of year will you be going and for how long?

Good to include also what your daughter likes to do. Any special interest in movies, African studies, medicine, perfume, horse racing, porcelains, ecology ....

(Arion just missed noting that you are going in the middle of this coming April)

I ll give you a great address, very popular to Parisians, but not very known of the anglo saxons.
The GREAT MOSQUEE OF PARIS
There is a very good restaurant.... a hamman and a tea room.

Its like to be in moroco but in Paris.
The great mosquee is close to JARDIN DES PLANTES

Dudu, excellent suggestions.  I've been to both the Great Mosque ( had tea in the Tea Room) and the Jardin des Plantes.  Another place not too many North American tourists venture to is the Institut du Monde Arabe.  If you go just for the architecture it will be worthwhile.  There's a tea room there as well.

But we have not heard back from the OP as to what her and her daughter's interests are.  Perhaps our suggestions are not her tasse du thé.
