We are trying to get a group of 10 girls to the Jane Austen Festival this September. Three of us went 3 yrs ago and it was so much easier finding a inexpensive cottage for 3. For 10 people not so much. We found some lovely cottages thru www.manorcottages.co.uk, but we are unsure how far by train and/or bus they are from Bath and London. The person I emailed was unable to give me helpful information.

Is anyone here familiar with that area? You guys were such a huge help in planning my last trip, I have confidence in you again this time. Laughing

According to the website you provided, those cottages are in the village of Somerford Keynes.  The easiest way to get there from London would be train to Kemble and taxi the 4 miles to Somerford Keynes.

Somerford Keynes is on a bus route betweem Malmesbury and Cirencester.

Getting to Bath is more problematic and complicated.  Suggest you go to the journey planner on the traveline southwest website, and see if the 2 hour plus journey involving multiple buses and train would be worthwhile.

It doesn't seem worthwhile to me. We are really trying to cut down on the multiple taxi rides. Thanks so much for your help. I am now looking in the Bristol area since that is where we will be flying into and it close to Bath as well.

Thank you guys! We have found a beatiful home 5-10min by bus from the center of Bath. So we are all set. Now just trying to find the cheapest way to get a pass that allows us to travel to and from Bath on train and bus. When we were in London we used a 4 day pass that allowed us to use the bus and train.

Since you say you are 10 people, be aware of the group discount from the train company that operates the route between London and Bath, http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/promotions/prb709bec35ce7410035bca77441c3c8/details.html
