Does it make sense to buy this pass at 25 Euro?  We will be in Rome for 4 days and may wish to take public transportation.  Does it work for trains and busses?  Is it only good in Rome?

Does it make sense to buy this pass at 25 Euro?  We will be in Rome for 4 days and may wish to take public transportation.  Does it work for trains and busses?  Is it only good in Rome?  Can it be used to book a train, say from Rome to Ovieto?  Can I purchase this pass at the airport?  Where else?
Thanks, I am working on the fine points and appreciate any information that will make it easier.

The Roma Pass price was raised to 30 euros as of Jan. 1, 2012.  It is good for the buses and the subways in Rome and the trains within Rome.  It isn't good for train trips outside the metropolitan area of Rome.  I don't think you can buy it at the airport but you can buy it at the Termini train station and lots of other places (see below).

You should be able to find answers to all of your questions on their website: http://www.romapass.it/?l=en

Note the FAQ section and the Buy section where the places to buy it are listed.

Although this article was written before the increase in price, I think it offers some good tips about whether it "makes sense" for you personally to invest in a Roma Pass.

Many people visiting Rome never use public transportation, even though they do a lot of sightseeing. So you might not want to buy it mainly to use a bus or subway pass unless you already know you need to avoid too much walking during the day.
