Greetings fellow travelers,

Due to a recent surge in cross border traffic at the Kazungula border post, immigration delays are being experienced at the moment. Kazungula is the border post used for travel between Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe, about 44miles/70km east) and Kasane/Chobe (Botswana, about 6miles/10km west). Tour operators have met with the relevant immigration authorities to see what can be done to alleviate the congestion, but at the moment travelers are experiencing delays of up to two hours.
Those traveling between Zambia and Botswana are not affected as a different border crossing is used. The Zambia-Botswana border crossing is commonly (and confusingly) referred to as the Kazungula ferry crossing, as the border formalities include the crossing of the Zambezi River via a small ferry.

Go with the flow, enjoy your holiday.

Thanks, Darren, we appreciate your taking care of all of us.   Looks like it's good that I am a very patient person.  As time is getting shorter, we're getting ready and excited.

You're most welcome Caroline. It's great to feel your enthusiasm, and that all the potential delays won't spoil your holiday.

Please feel free to contact me with any other queries or concerns before you depart.

Further to my post on 15 August:
Additonal staff have been placed at Kazungula border (Zimbabwe side) and a "green route" has been established for locals who don't require visaes to enter Zimbabwe. This should hopefully shorten the delays experienced by those travelers who do have to purchase a visa.
