Getting married in May and looking into spending our honeymoon on safari. We want to include Cape Town as well as a safari that travels around from place to place. We are not rich, but are willing to spend some money and would love to stat at Phinda at least 3 nights during the tour. I found a tour company called UMFULANA PEERSONISED TOURS; has anyone heard of this company? Good, bad, any info. will be most helpful. THanks in advance.
Please help...Who has heard of a tour called UMFULANA PERSONALISED TOURS? Any advice would be greatly helpful. Looking to go in May 2006 with my husband to be. Cheers!
Since there haven't been responses to your request, consider posting again at www.fodors.com. I have no vested interest in that site - I obviously use Frommers as well. It's just another vehicle. I'm unaware of the company you mention, but that shouldn't be construed negatively. There are hundreds of tour providers in South Africa. Just use normal caution. South Africa's a wonderful travel destination - just got back at the end of September. Good luck at this very exciting time in your life.
I have never heard of UMFULANA PEERSONISED TOURS, however:
A Honeymoon in South Africa is a brilliant idea. I did this myself and thought it was the best thing we could ever have done. It really was a special trip and one that allowed us to really spend quality time together. Feeling, hearing and experiencing the raw, wild, untamed Africa around you in truly a unique and inspiring experience!
It really depends on how much time you have to take in South Africa and what interests you! Phinda Private Game is a great option as you can combine both the safari element with the beach elements. Phinda offers day trips to the St Lucia Wetlands Area where you can see the Giant Turtles. It is a fabulous property and they have a lodge called Tree lodge which is little chalets built in and amongst the tees allowing complete privacy! Wow!
I would recommend that you include Cape Town (3 or 4 nights), a trip along the Garden Route (2 or 3 nights including George and Knysna) and Phinda (3 nights). If you have time the wonderful Zimbali Lodge (a Sun International property) is located in Balito and is on the way to Phinda. Stay for two nights at this wonderful property which has an 18-hole golf course and its own private beach on the Indian Ocean!
