My husband and I loved hiring our own boat on the Canal du Midi and are thinking of taking our 5-year-old son on a similar one-week boating trip in Ireland. We'd appreciate any advice on the most scenic passages, lessons learned, how to do a one-way trip or anyting else that you think could be helpful. Where should we start and end our trip?

Can you tell me about renting the boat and driving it. What did you see along the way? Any hikiing, biking?
