day trip outside San Diego

During our San Diego visit at the end of April, we would like to spend one day sightseeing outside San Diego. We are staying in Escondido. We are thinking about a loop Escondido-Temecula-Barrego Springs-Julian-Escondido. Is that worthwile? Any advice on what to add or eliminate from that loop? We are flexible and welcome any suggestions. Thank you.

Sorry about the difficult question, I will try to simplify it:
Is this loop doable in one day? Obviously it depends on how many stops I make and long I make them. Does anyone know of anything more interesting than my choices, that I left out? I have no particular interests other than scenic sightseeing and wine, Thank you.
Escondido-Julian-Temecula-Oceanside-Carlsbad-Encinitas-Solana Beach-Del Mar-Escondido
