So I'm from the UK and I live in San Francisco. My best friend is coming over to visit from the UK but she is only able to come for a week. We need some serious help on what to do and where to go in California. We're on a budget.
We were thinking AirBnB in Newport so we have beaches but are not sure what else is there or if its worth going there.
Plus Disney for a day?
What's worth visiting in LA?
We are having to use public transport.
Any good suggestions on any better ideas or better places to go we are up for anything -- adventure, relaxing -- just good things to make the week special as it will be our only week together for the whole year.
Since only you know yourself (and your friend), you need to immediately look through some guidebooks and narrow down the list of stuff you WANT to see and NEED to see. My first thought is, you're probably too old for Disneyland. Sorry. You'd probably enjoy Universal or Magic Mountain more. You really can't survive in So Cal without a car, unlike SF. Especially down behind the Orange Curtain in Newport and the like. And if you do decide to stay down there, you won't be near ANY of the typical tourist stuff in LA you're probably thinking of. If you stay more centered in LA, you can easily take Gray Line tours and the like to see all the normal sights.
You need to answer questions like, do we want pampering? Shopping? Surfing? Hiking? Star-seeing? See a TV show? How realistically can we do what we want on our budgets of money and time?
I don't think you are too old for Disneyland ( is anyone ? ) and would include it in your trip Posted by twelveoaks
Untrue. My 25 year old nephew was just here and it would have been a total waste of time, energy and considerable money for him to do Disney. A definite case of knowing oneself, or knowing someone else well enough to suggest things to do and not do.
Instead we put that money and time into the Warner Bros studio tour which was a hit and only took 3 hours.
