Coming back to the States again in 2012, this time for two weeks at the East Coast. As air travel from Europe is cheapest from and to NYC, we will have to start and end there. What we'd like to see: Boston, Cape Cod, Baltimore, DC, Philly, ... And end with a couple of days in NYC. We've visited that city loads of times, so it's just a relaxing end to the entire trip.
I would like to spend our first night in Sleepy Hollow or somewhere in the vicimity. Catskills? As we have an eight hour flight, I'd love my first night to be somewhere special. But not overly expensive.
We both love quirky places and quirky thing to see. I would have loved to add Ben&Jerry's factory to the itinerary, but it's too far out I'm afraid. So tips and pointers on special vistas are more than welcome. When we were touring Florida, we loved the A1A scenic route, so if there are similar routes that we should do, please let me know. Little villages (Gilmore Girls addict) that are a must see? Off the beaten tracks? We are just a couple, no kids.
Many thanks in advance for all the help and tips. I love the States an I am keen on exploring it to the fullest! :-) Renewing our vows in Vegas in 2013 by the way, but that for another topic in a years time.
Are you heading strictly the northeast, or are you also going to be visiting the rest of the east coast, too. There is some very scenic beauty in VA/NC's Blue Ridge Parkway. Also, the coast of NC is unique. If you're going strictly to the north, you might want to do a post on the states you will be visiting as that may get good localized suggestions too.
Williamsburg, VA is an interesting historic type town. So is Asheville, NC as it has the Biltmore House and it's wineraries is great.
We don't always go through NYC when traveling to Europe. I guess that depends on the country of origination though. We usually fly out of other major hubs.
Thanks Caroline. We've managed our two weeks, I guess that it's best indeed to post specific requests in the more specific categories of this forum. Planning the trip is already so exiting :-)
