Attending the tapings of TV shows can put a new dimension into a visit to Los Angeles, New York, or Chicago.

Getting tickets is simple.  Just Google your favorite show + tickets for instructions.  Sometimes it is as simple as sending in a postcard in advance of your trip.

Here is how to get tickets to Emeril Live:

Here is some information about the general procedures for various TV shows:
www.ehow.com/how_4474033_get-tickets-tv-show-tapings.html.

I have attended tapings of Saturday Night Live, The Today Show, The View, Regis and Kelly, Austin City Limits, and The Antique Roadshow. Every production is different but they are all interesting.  None of them look in person as they do on television.

FYI   passport ready -  The studios all require that visitors pass through a security screening.

Emeril Live was cancelled in 2007.

Love your "handle" by the way Passport Ready.

The food shows are probably a lot less formal and probably more fun. FoodTV is in Chelsea Market in NYC and some of the shows are taped there.

The major talk shows - you have to get there hours before and there is a lot of waiting around. I will never forget when a friend got passes to Montel Williams. They spent the first hour looking for people with colorful clothing to put in the front rows. We were there for 3+ hours of logistics before the show started - and I dont mean interesting things like watching them set up cameras - just waiting on lines, then waiting while they moved colorful people around.... Saturday Night Live was similar...
