As a family we love to experience National Parks during Summer break.  I've read as much as I can about Voyageurs, but still have the following questions:
-I see a lot about renting houseboats, which makes me think of large groups of loud, drunk college students.  We're looking for more of a serene, family atmosphere.  Any thoughts here?
-We have a motor boat that we use on inland lakes in Michigan.  Do people use motor boats on the lakes in Voyageur? How is the water depth? Are hazards well marked? How rough can the bigger lakes get? We plan on rustic camping and using the boat to get to the campsites.  Good idea? Or are the campsites too far apart?
-I worry about driving such a long way without camping reservations (which are not available).  How hard is it to find a site in early August?
-Anything else we should know?
THANKS!
