Hi! My husband and I have decided to travel to Newport in September for our anniversary and could really use some help planning our trip. We have currently booked a two night stay at the Mill Street Inn. Has anyone ever stayed there that could give us some feedback? What other lodgings in the area are nice and could be reserved for under 200/nt? What side trips would you recommend? Finally, what is a romantic restaurant recommendation for our anniversary dinner? Thanks so much for all of your help.

Hi JF... my husband and I met in Newport...love it and are also going for our anniversary, though in June. We used to rent houses when we visited, so I have no real info on lodging. We're probably staying at the Harborside Inn this time, and I'm also looking for feed back on that ...I always recommend a harbor tour on the "Madeleine", a sailboat that leaves from Bowen's Warf...a really delightful way to see Newport from the water, best to go at the sunset cruise. Also, take a walk on the cliff walk. Our favorite restaurants are the Mooring, try to sit outside, drinks or brunch at the Inn at Castle Hill (outside town, check out their website to see pics of their incredible lawn/view), dinner at Clark Cooke House. Cheap bfast at Poor Richards. Enjoy!!

When you're planning your Newport RI trip, you might want to check out a new website that I love! www.tablehound.com is a guide to every Newport restaurant. You can search by cuisine, menu, price, atmosphere, whatever, and the results are displayed to you on a map, with detailed profiles of each restaurant.

I love Newport and visit a dozen times a year. Have FUN!!!
