I am looking to do a Caribbean cruise and a Mediterranean cruise this year on an upscale cruise line. Celebrity is the most upscale that I have done. Would Oceania or Regent be a step up

We have done several Celebrity cruises and really enjoyed. We decided to try an all inclusive line this year and went with Seabourn. A fabulous trip and we have decided that we will probably only do the all inclusives in the future, including Seabourn, RSSC, Silversea and Crystal. Huge difference over the mass market lines.
I think that I am looking for a very beautiful ship, very nice cabins and excellent cuisine. Not so much interested in entertainment, but want a very good spa as well. And of course good service. I assume both Oceania and Regent fit that bill. Any comments??

I can only comment on Oceania
The ships are old world looking (as you can see in the brochure pictures) lots of wood .
Cabins are about 165 sq ft but well appointed with lots of wood, storage places bathrooms are cozy.
Food is so subjective, DH is a picky eater & he still manages to find something on the menu, I find the food very well presented & very tasty. It depends on what you are us to.
The service is great the staff are so helpful & friendly
The spa looks very nice I do not use it so no comment.
They have a small but nice gym with several treadmills & weight machines.
The entertainment is hit or miss but if you are on a port intensive cruise you may just want to relax in the evening or hit the lovely beds early to get rested for the next day.
We usually go for about a month and find at the end they have to drag us off. ;)
We saidled on Holland american, Vandeem, and found it to be excellent.
The food was fabulous, the service impecable and the accommodations (balcony) comfortable. Holland American ships are generally smaller and do not cater to children...there were few on board. The dining atmosphere was elegant and guests generally dressed very well for dinner...with 2 formal nights during the one week cruise. Fifty percent of passengers were older...40 to 65, Those younger were generally couples. Not a singles type cruise.
I would highly recommond Holland America and woud sail with them again.
Actually Karen, neither. Try Silversea. They make the others seem like the SS Minnow. They have small ships with the fine Italian cruising experience of days gone by. More expensive than the others, but well worth it. In my humble opinion.
I wouldn't consider sailing on any other line.

As someone who has been on Celebrity cruises and Refent. Regent by far, is more luxurious. Both are lovely, and Celebrity is great if you want a nice higher end ship but Regent is luxury. We took Regent (when it was Radisson) to the Med (Italy and France and a dif trip to the Greek Isles) and they both were awesome!
Keep in mind that these premium lines mentioned above (Seaborn, Crystal, Regent) are usually much more expensive than the other lines. You may be shocked by the price difference.

Regent is the more upscale of the two, but I am unwilling to pay for the included "free" booze. Oceania is not that more expensive than the mainstream lines, but what a difference in attitude, service and food. If you want comfort and entertainment is not big on your agenda, I think you will like Oceania. The 600+ passenger size of the current fleet is a plus.

This is just what I was looking for.
We have always cruised RCCL and have had wonderful times. I think I'll look into this.
