Just came back. We were there for four days and cannot express our satisfaction and thanks for such a beautiful and well maintained park. Travel the Old Fall River Rd (9 miles) instead of RT 34 Trail Ridge Road up to the visitors station. We rented a 4WD and it came in useful for this unforgettable scenery. The 9 miles were the best we ever traveled. The trails there are ALL marked and are meticulously maintained. This park is as good as Yosemite IMHO. The weather was bright sunshine and cool temps. Sept is by far the best month to experience this great piece of America. And Estes Park has many hotels/restaurants to satisfy all tastes. My hats off to the state of Colorado. And don't forget to traverse the Peak-to-Peak highway too. Equally unforgettable.
