Most islanders who visit Acireale go home with marzipan, as the town is famous for this confection. The best are sold at El Dorado, Corso Umberto 5, open Monday through Friday from 6am to midnight. It also makes the town's best chocolate cakes. A good competitor is Castorina, Piazza del Duomo; try cassata Siciliana, the island's most celebrated cake, and some divine almond granita. Open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 1am.
