Hotel Kamal

If hotels were rated solely on friendliness and service, this aging gent would be a five-star. Guests repeatedly comment on the genuinely good service they receive at Hotel Kamal. The building reflects the block-standard design of 1980s Agadir, and the rooms are definitely starting to age, although they still offer comfortable beds and private bathrooms. Ask for a pool-view room rather than one looking out onto busy boulevard Hassan II. The good-size swimming pool is kept spotlessly clean and is frequently in use -- as is the attached pool bar -- although the hotel is only a 10-minute stroll to the beach. It's also very close to the city's restaurants, and I recommend utilizing them rather than the in-house restaurant, which can be a bit up and down and charges extra for many breakfast items. This is a good-value hotel that is past its due date but is still a deservedly popular choice with English-speaking travelers.
