The supply of good downtown hotels in Albany is woefully limited for a state capital. By far the best choice is one of the small B&B/boutique inns that have cropped up to take the place of larger hotels, which is not only the best place to stay in Albany, it's one of the finest inns in upstate New York. Most decent hotels of any size, which tend to be standard hotel and motel chains, are on the outskirts of town, in a suburb called Colonie.
Hotel & Motel Chains in the Albany Area
