Restaurant Eve ReviewOld Town's finest restaurant, this exquisitely designed bistro is the creation of talented chef Cathal Armstrong and his wife, Meshelle, who named it for their young daughter, Eve. They really have two restaurants in one here. Residing under a huge skylight, their casual Bistro serves an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. A doorway leads to the Chef's Tasting Room, a more formal venue where Cathal cooks five-course fixed-priced dinners. In either, their menus change up to 60 times a year to make use of fresh, mostly organic produce from local farms and markets. The rich bouillabaisse with cod and clams is a constant in the Bistro, where you might also find sautéed soft-shell crabs with braised fennel-and-tomato confit. To the left as you enter, an air-conditioned room holds an excellent collection of wines. A good way to sample the fare here without filing for bankruptcy is the $14 Lickity Split-Lounge Lunch Menu, offering a choice of two items such as a salad of local asparagus and Virginia ham.
