This was the home of William Wordsworth from 1813 until his death in 1850. Part of the house was built as a farmer's lake cottage around 1575. A descendant of Wordsworth now owns the property, which displays numerous portraits, furniture, and family possessions, as well as mementos and the poet's books. A 1.8-hectare (4 1/2-acre) garden, landscaped by Wordsworth, is filled with rare trees, shrubs, and other features of interest.
