Frommer's Review

Two notable restaurants (sadly, not for the price of one), both called Sluizer, stand side by side in convivial harmony. No. 45 is an old-fashioned brasserie with an eclectic, slightly French-biased menu. Try such items as entrecôte Dijon (steak with mustard sauce) and poulet à la Provençal (chicken with olives, sage, rosemary, and tomato). Next door, at nos. 41-43, the vaguely Art Deco visrestaurant (fish restaurant), with ceiling fans and fringed table-lamps, has at least 10 daily specials, ranging from simple cod or eel to coquille Saint-Jacques (scallops), crab casserole, Dover sole, halibut, and octopus. Meat dishes, such as beef stroganoff and chicken supreme, also appear on the menu. With kitchens open until midnight, both these places qualify as late-dining restaurants.
