Mangerie de Kersentuin ReviewAll cherry red and gleaming brass, the "Cherry Orchard" has floor-to-ceiling windows looking onto the residential street outside and partly screened interior windows looking into the glimmering kitchen inside. Attention to detail (think Christofle silver-plated flatware) has made this restaurant a mecca for visiting stars. From nouvelle cuisine and a strictly French approach, Mangerie has progressed to its own unique culinary concept, based on a French foundation with Mediterranean influences. The menu changes every 2 months, but these samples should give you some idea of what to expect: Lamb filet prepared in goose fat with creamy salsify and cilantro (coriander)-scented vanilla sauce; and sea bass sautéed with peppers, garlic, sea salt, and sesame seeds, served on stir-fried bok choy and tofu, with lemon grass butter. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
