Frommer's Review
This distinctive detached house with a conservatory extension and a large sidewalk terrace was built in 1901 as a coffeehouse for longshoremen (dockworkers). A meal at this restaurant is an altogether good reason to make a trip to a part of town that's becoming ever more fashionable. As the restaurant's name indicates (it means "East Station"), the cuisine is traditional French -- but its chefs do incorporate Mediterranean touches. Service is relaxed and knowledgeable, and the fixed-price menu is an excellent value: Surprises appear on your plate rather than on the check. The strict five-course formula (starter, salad, main course of meat or fish, cheese, and dessert) leaves no room for choice -- except for the main course -- but plenty for market-fresh ingredients and culinary creativity. Try pulpo estofado et risotto nero (octopus stew and black rice) as a starter, and roast lamb with gazpacho and farfalle as a main course.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
