Frommer's Review
Perched as it is on an old pier on Het IJ behind Centraal Station (but set back far enough that you won't be bothered by the noise), this restaurant can hardly help being romantic. It has great views of the IJ waterway from its big outdoor terrace and from the serre (glassed-in room) at the end of the pier. If the views of Waterplein-West, the ferry dock next door, are not quite as fantastic, then at least the ferries' comings and goings add a dash of nautical bustle to the scene. When cruise liners and workaday barges head to sea, they sail down the ship channel within view, making this one of only a few restaurants where you can see the sea and port traffic that was once Amsterdam's lifeblood. Candlelight softens the funky diner decor, and the food is fanciful international-eclectic -- there are salads of all sorts, steak, and fish (including new herring), among other offerings.
