Rattan chairs, wooden tables, plenty of plants, and a cobbled floor give this cellar restaurant a French-Mediterranean village atmosphere, and all the wines available from France add to the feeling. The menu, though not extensive, has a good mix of soups, seafood, and meat dishes, all prepared Mediterranean style. The fresh seasonal fish is close to the "heaven on earth" they claim for it, and the Caesar salad is pretty mean, too. Musicians perform Wednesday to Sunday. Round the corner, at Lange Leidsedwarsstraat 53-59, is Brasserie De Kelderhof, a fine restaurant in the style of a Portuguese cantine.
