Radisson Blu Review

You can't get much closer to Old Amsterdam than at this stylish hotel in the higgledy-piggledy heart of the city. When you walk into the dazzling atrium, you face a vicarage dating from 1650. Radisson couldn't knock the building down, so they incorporated it into the new structure. Two 18th-century merchants' houses and a former paper factory complete the renovated ensemble. The hotel offers four types of themed rooms: Typical Dutch, with oak furnishings and orange curtains; Scandinavian; Asian; and Art Deco. All offer a standard of comfort and style that has made this hotel a firm Amsterdam favorite. Each room has a writing desk, and king-, queen-, or twin-size beds. Dine in the Dutch restaurant De Palmboom. The oak-beamed De Pastoriebar in the old vicarage handles drinks and snacks. Note: This hotel has been awarded a Green Key certificate for its environmental awareness and sustainable practices.

Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; babysitting; executive rooms; concierge; health club; room service; sauna

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
