Frommer's Review
Named after the famous 17th-century Dutch poet Joost van den Vondel, this five-floor hotel has become one of Amsterdam's leading three-star hotels since its 1993 opening. Each room is named after one of Vondel's poems, like Lucifer and Solomon. Three of the first-floor rooms are ideal for travelers with disabilities. The furniture is solid, the rooms are spacious, the windows are soundproof, and the service is good. Vondel is comfortable, and it's in a quiet and popular area close to the museum area and Leidseplein.
