Van de Kasteelen ReviewOn a quiet side street not far from the Van Gogh Museum, this hotel is owned by a gracious Indonesian family. The smallish guest rooms are outfitted with a minor-key classic elegance. Wood furnishings, bright and adjustable lighting, firm mattresses, and fine drapes all indicate that the proprietors have taken great care to create a comfort zone. Bathrooms, which have a combination tub/shower, are large in relation to room size; there's space enough for two at morning toilette, provided neither has sharp elbows. A small patio-garden out back is a pleasant place to relax in fine weather. Van de Kasteelen lies between two tram stops, but isn't too far from either of them.
